COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Aeronautical Engineering program offers a structured, three-year curriculum designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in aircraft design, performance, and engineering. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in mathematics, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, electrical science, design, and manufacturing, while gaining experience with engineering computing applications such as programming and CAD. This equips students with essential analytical and technical skills needed for future aeronautical studies. The second year focuses on more specialized topics, including further engineering mathematics, aircraft systems integration and performance, aeronautical design, control and instrumentation, advanced thermofluids, and engineering materials. Students engage in conceptual aircraft design projects, culminating in the creation of an RC aircraft model, and learn to evaluate complex engineering systems and performance characteristics. In the final year, students undertake an individual project, allowing independent research and in-depth exploration of a chosen area. They also study engineering computational analysis, aircraft structures, propulsion systems, and aircraft flight dynamics, applying principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and stability analysis to real-world aeronautical challenges. Throughout the program, practical learning, computational modeling, and hands-on experience with real aircraft are emphasized, preparing graduates with the technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and professional competence required for careers in aerospace design, flight testing, and engineering development.
