COURSE CURRICULUM

The Theatre and Drama program is a three-year degree designed to develop students’ practical and theoretical understanding of performance, production, and theatre-making. In the first year, students build foundational skills through modules in practical acting, perspectives on theatre and performance, introduction to devising, and performance, writing, and research. This combination of practical training and academic study helps students explore different performance styles, develop creative thinking, and gain essential technical skills for live theatre. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied practice and creative collaboration, with modules such as intersections in devised storytelling, theatre festival participation, and applied drama. These experiences allow students to engage in ensemble work, experiment with innovative approaches, and perform in public contexts, gaining hands-on experience and developing confidence as practitioners. In the final year, students consolidate their learning and prepare for professional life through modules in professional practice and employability, theatre and education, specialist studies, and a research project. These components emphasize leadership, project management, and critical reflection while allowing students to focus on areas of personal interest or specialization. Graduates leave the program equipped for careers in acting, directing, devising, theatre production, education, and other performance-related roles, combining creativity, practical expertise, and a strong understanding of the cultural and theoretical aspects of theatre.
