COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Producing degree guides students through a structured journey of developing technical expertise, creative skills, and industry awareness in music production and sound design. In the first year, students focus on building a solid foundation through modules in creative music composition and production, critical listening, studio production, and essential music and sound skills, alongside practical experience connecting with the professional music environment. This combination ensures students gain confidence in both their technical abilities and creative expression. In the second year, the curriculum advances to more complex production techniques, exploring music and sound for media, artist liaison skills, and music industry practice. Students also undertake a minor project that challenges them to work to a professional brief, simulating real-world industry expectations and enhancing project management and collaboration skills. The third year centers on independent and industry-aligned work, including a major production project that can be live or studio-based, remix production, and professional practitioner modules designed to refine students’ practice. The industry-ready module ensures graduates understand professional standards and expectations. Throughout the degree, students engage in hands-on projects, critical reflection, and collaborative practice, equipping them with the creativity, technical competence, and professional insight required for successful careers in music production, sound design, and broader creative industries.
