COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media Production degree is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both the practical and theoretical aspects of media creation. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Visual Production Techniques, Sound Design and Audio Production, and Interactive Design and Construction, while Critical Culture introduces them to the broader social, historical, and cultural contexts of media. This combination ensures students gain technical proficiency alongside analytical and creative thinking skills. In the second year, the course deepens practical and professional expertise with modules including Concept and Script Development, Client Brief – Professional Practice, Visual Production Techniques 2, Sound Design 2, and Interactive Storytelling, supported by Critical Culture 2. These modules emphasize collaboration, creative problem solving, and real-world application, allowing students to work on projects that mirror industry practices. In the final year, students undertake the Major Project Development Package and Major Media Production Project, which consolidate all learned skills into a substantial, professional-standard production. Additionally, the Cultural Context Research Project and Professional Freelance Practice modules prepare students for independent work, freelancing, and critical engagement with media industries. Throughout the course, students build a strong portfolio of work, combining creativity, technical skill, and professional insight, equipping them for careers across film, television, radio, digital media, and interactive production.
