This program provides an in-depth exploration of forensic psychology, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical application. The "Applied Psychological Research Methods" module (30 credits) equips students with advanced knowledge in research methods and data analysis, preparing them for professional roles in health and forensic psychology. Students develop a scientist-practitioner perspective, learning to solve real-life research problems and working collaboratively with peers to design empirical projects. In the "Assessment and Interventions With Offenders" module (30 credits), students gain expertise in risk assessment and the application of intervention models. Through case studies, they evaluate research and recommend rehabilitation pathways tailored to specific offender groups, considering the context and validity of assessment tools and intervention strategies. The "Empirical Research Project for Forensic Psychology" module (60 credits) allows students to undertake independent research in an area of forensic psychology that interests them. With support from a supervisor, students develop research questions, apply appropriate methods, and undergo an ethical review process before presenting their findings in a research article suitable for peer review. The "Investigative Psychology and the Legal Process" module (30 credits) focuses on how psychological research can enhance the criminal and civil justice systems. Students assume the role of an expert witness, applying psychological theories to evaluate legal processes, including jury decision-making, eyewitness testimony, and investigative interviewing. Finally, the "Theory Into Practice: Foundations of Professional Competence in Forensic Psychology" module (30 credits) helps students develop critical competencies for working in forensic psychology settings. They enhance their problem-solving skills, integrating theory with practice while considering ethical issues and the dynamics of forensic environments. This module prepares students for roles as reflective, communicative professionals in clinical and organizational contexts.
