Through workshops and discussions, you’ll analyze the impact of emerging technologies, such as steganography and encryption, on the practice of cyber forensics. You’ll also gain insight into the legal and ethical responsibilities that come with working as a cyber forensics investigator, preparing you to address the challenges of this rapidly evolving field.The Computer and Mobile Forensics module (30 credits) provides a comprehensive understanding of the digital forensics process. You will learn how to evaluate and apply forensic tools to both computer and mobile devices, and gain practical experience in evidence extraction for legal cases. The module also covers emerging challenges to digital forensics practices, preparing you for a career in the use of digital forensic evidence while ensuring adherence to ethical standards.The Systems, Security and Hacking module (30 credits) equips you with the skills to penetrate cybersecurity defenses, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend solutions to protect systems against attack. You will learn to analyze and implement security defenses such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, and gain hands-on experience in penetration testing. By the end of the module, you will be able to confidently apply penetration testing frameworks and communicate your findings to stakeholders, enabling you to recommend effective strategies for mitigating cyberattack risks.
