COURSE CURRICULUM

This postgraduate programme develops advanced knowledge and practical expertise in accounting, finance, governance, and strategic decision-making, preparing students for leadership roles in today's complex business environment. The course begins with Management Accounting and Governance, where students learn how accounting information supports effective planning, organisational performance, corporate governance, accountability, and informed managerial decision-making. Students also gain a solid understanding of Financial Markets and Investment Analysis, exploring how financial markets operate while developing the analytical skills needed to assess investments, evaluate financial assets, and understand the relationship between risk and return in real-world business situations. The programme further strengthens technical expertise through Corporate Reporting and Assurance, enabling students to prepare and interpret complex financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), while gaining knowledge of assurance services, auditing principles, financial transparency, and regulatory compliance. In Corporate Finance and Risk Management, students develop the ability to make strategic financial decisions by analysing investment opportunities, managing financial risks, evaluating sources of finance, and understanding sustainability considerations that influence modern organisations. Throughout the programme, students build advanced analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, and professional communication skills while learning to apply financial theories to practical business challenges. A major component of the course is the 60-credit independent Project, which allows students to integrate the knowledge and skills gained throughout the programme by investigating a significant accounting or finance-related issue or completing a practical business project. This experience develops research, critical thinking, project management, and independent learning abilities while addressing a real organisational challenge or opportunity within the discipline. Graduates complete the programme with a comprehensive understanding of advanced accounting, corporate finance, financial reporting, governance, auditing, investment analysis, and risk management, supported by strong research and analytical capabilities.
