COURSE CURRICULUM

The nursing program is structured across two years, offering a comprehensive path from foundational knowledge to professional readiness. In Year 1, students begin with the Foundations of Adult Nursing Practice (30 credits), which prepares them for clinical placements by developing resilience strategies, understanding sociocultural factors in patient care, and mastering clinical assessments and decision-making. The Fundamental Knowledge and Skills for Nursing module (30 credits) focuses on essential concepts like anatomy, physiology, and patient-centered care, while exploring the ethical and legal dimensions of nursing. The Integrated Care for People With Acute and Long-Term Conditions module (30 credits) builds on this by expanding students’ knowledge of health conditions, pharmacology, diagnostics, and evidence-based treatment strategies for complex patient needs.In Year 2, students deepen their expertise with the Evidence, Innovation and Improvement in Nursing module (15 credits), where they focus on evidence-based practice and the ethical implications of research in clinical decision-making. The Improvement Project (15 credits) offers students the opportunity to undertake an independent project aimed at health improvement, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In Professional Responsibilities and Governance in Nursing (15 credits), students enhance their collaborative skills, understanding the benefits of teamwork in healthcare and developing leadership abilities to tackle ethical dilemmas and public health issues. The final module, Proficiency in Adult Nursing Practice (45 credits), allows students to refine their clinical skills, demonstrate leadership, and prepare for professional practice as a registered nurse, ready to manage complex patient care and contribute to healthcare improvement.
