COURSE CURRICULUM

The course is designed to develop and enhance illustration skills through a variety of modules that build on research, creativity, and industry knowledge. In the "A Question of Research" module, students will explore both qualitative and quantitative research methods, applying ethical guidelines to topics of personal interest. This will help students discover their identity as researchers and prepare them for advanced study. The "Proposal for Illustration" module encourages students to create a well-thought-out project proposal, using research to support their chosen methodologies and context. This empowers students to direct their own learning while aligning their work with professional goals. The "Illustration in Context" module focuses on the professional side of illustration, teaching students to craft artist statements and build an online profile to share their work strategically. This module helps students understand the realities of the illustration industry and how to effectively promote their skills. Finally, the "Illustration Major Project" module offers students the opportunity to complete a final, ambitious project that showcases their research, technique, and personal style. By the end of the course, students will have developed industry-standard work that prepares them for a successful career in illustration, with a deep understanding of both the creative and business aspects of the field.
