COURSE CURRICULUM

The Research Methods module (30 credits) is designed to equip you with the necessary research skills for postgraduate study and professional practice. You'll review and critically assess research methods from a variety of fields, including architecture, conservation, urban design, and interior design. Through activities such as fieldwork, archival study, and theoretical inquiry, you'll develop the skills to conduct focused research investigations. Additionally, you'll learn how to communicate your research findings effectively using writing, design, and multimedia techniques. This module serves as key preparation for conceptualising, implementing, and presenting research projects related to spatial design, providing you with versatile research capabilities for future academic or professional endeavors.The Thesis module (60 credits) offers an opportunity to dive into a major research project, allowing you to expand your architectural expertise in a chosen area. You'll develop focused research questions around a subject that excites you, working closely with an expert supervisor to refine your ideas. Through seminars, you'll engage with critical theories, contexts, and visual sources, testing your hypotheses and structuring your findings. By the end of the module, you will have produced a comprehensive piece of research that demonstrates your ability to introduce innovative ideas and contribute to the field. This advanced research experience will prepare you for doctoral-level study or bring fresh insights to the architecture industry.
