COURSE CURRICULUM

The Thesis module (60 credits) provides an opportunity to engage in a major research project that aligns with your passion and deepens your architectural expertise. You will select a specific area of architecture to explore and develop focused research questions. Throughout this process, you will attend seminars that help shape your initial ideas, and work closely with an expert supervisor to critically assess relevant theories, contexts, and visual sources. This module offers the chance to test your theories and synthesize knowledge from various fields into a well-structured research format. By the end of the module, you will have demonstrated your ability to present innovative ideas and conduct a thorough investigation into your chosen topic. This advanced research experience will prepare you for further doctoral study or contribute new perspectives to the architecture industry.The Research Methods module (30 credits) is designed to equip you with the research skills necessary for postgraduate study and professional practice. You will critically examine research methods across various disciplines, including architecture, conservation, urban design, and interior design. By planning and executing targeted research investigations, including activities such as fieldwork, archival studies, and theoretical inquiry, you will enhance your ability to gather and analyze data effectively. Additionally, you will refine your skills in communicating your findings through writing, design, and multimedia formats. This module prepares you to conceptualize, implement, and present incisive research, helping you develop versatile capabilities for both academic advancement and professional practice in the built environment.
