COURSE CURRICULUM

The Company Compliance and Administration module introduces students to the role of the company secretary, outlining the rules and processes by which companies operate and the dynamics of boardroom decision-making. The focus is on understanding corporate governance practices and company compliance within the broader legal framework. Assessment for this module is based on a written assessment. The Corporate Law and Governance module offers a comprehensive understanding of company law and corporate governance principles, including the regulation of company directors, the role of corporate finance, and the legal frameworks governing corporate rescue and insolvency in the UK. Students will explore the different types of companies and their role in society, assessing the effectiveness of governance mechanisms. This module is assessed by a single piece of coursework. In the Understanding Strategy module, students will develop the skills to make justified recommendations for the future direction of an organization. The module explores various strategic management theories, allowing students to critically assess different perspectives and methods for decision-making, providing a solid foundation for organizational strategy development.The Interpreting Financial and Accounting Information module equips students with the technical skills to prepare and analyze financial statements, understanding their implications for decision-making in areas like capital allocation, investment appraisal, and profit distribution. This module combines seminars and structured independent learning opportunities to develop research, communication, and problem-solving skills. It emphasizes critical reflection on accounting principles and practices, preparing students for careers in corporate governance. The Risk Management module focuses on evaluating and advising on organizational risks. Students will explore different risk management strategies, analyze how business environments and organizational cultures affect risk, and champion transparent, accountable practices. By the end of the module, students will be prepared to evaluate the impact of risks across various sectors and provide effective, informed risk management guidance.
