COURSE CURRICULUM

This criminology program offers a comprehensive understanding of criminal justice, forensic science, and criminological theory. In the first year, students are introduced to key topics such as forensic investigations, criminal justice systems, criminological thinking, and psychological principles related to crime. The Crime Scene and Forensic Investigation module allows students to explore the practical aspects of crime scene management and evidence recovery. The Criminal Justice module provides a solid foundation in criminal justice principles and their application. Additionally, the Essential Skills for Criminologists module helps students build academic and research skills, preparing them for advanced study.In the second year, students deepen their forensic science knowledge through the Forensic Evidence from Crime Scene to Court module, where they learn about evidence collection, analysis, and interpretation. The Questioning Criminology module encourages students to critically examine criminology’s role in social order and justice. The Researching Criminology module enhances students’ research skills, preparing them for their final dissertation.The final year focuses on advanced topics like the Management of Criminal Investigations, where students learn investigative strategies and procedures, and The Future of Forensic Investigations, which looks at emerging technologies in forensic science. The program culminates in a Dissertation, where students conduct independent research on a topic of their choice. Overall, this program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to pursue careers in criminal justice, forensic science, and criminology.
