COURSE CURRICULUM

This bioscience program offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that equips students with essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in research, healthcare, or industry. In the first year, students explore foundational topics like Biodiversity and Evolution, Microbiology, and Experimental Biology, gaining practical laboratory experience and a deep understanding of biological processes. The Graduate Employability Skills module ensures students develop critical thinking, communication, and numeracy skills to enhance their employability. As they progress to the second year, students dive into more specialized areas like Cell Biology, Enzymes and Metabolism, and Recombinant DNA and Protein Expression, building a deeper understanding of genetics, molecular biology, and biochemistry. The Research Skills module encourages independent thinking and research planning, while the Business for Biosciences module introduces students to the entrepreneurial side of science. In the third year, students have the opportunity to focus on advanced topics such as Gene Organisation and Expression, Genomics in Molecular Medicine, and Synthetic Biology. They can also engage in independent research through the Research Project module, culminating in a dissertation.
