COURSE CURRICULUM
In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge in key engineering disciplines. The Engineering Sciences module introduces core physics principles, applied to solve engineering problems. Introduction to Algorithms and Programming equips students with essential coding skills for engineering applications, progressing from basic concepts to problem-solving algorithms. Introduction to Analogue Circuits focuses on the design and analysis of analogue systems, while Introduction to Energy Systems covers energy generation, conversion, and storage, with a focus on sustainability. Mathematical Principles strengthens students' mathematical skills, preparing them for complex engineering tasks, and Principles of Digital Systems introduces fundamental digital electronics concepts, including microcontrollers and circuit design.In Year 2, the curriculum deepens students' mathematical abilities with Engineering Mathematics, focusing on advanced techniques like Laplace and Fourier transforms. The Group Design Project encourages students to collaboratively design engineering solutions, integrating economic, social, and sustainability considerations. Microcontrollers and Programmable Logic allows students to develop sequential systems using microcontrollers, while Analogue Analysis and Design hones skills in designing complex analogue circuits. Innovation and Enterprise challenges students to create business plans for start-up ideas, covering risk management and ethical considerations.Year 3 focuses on independent research and advanced skills. The Individual Project (MEng) allows students to apply their learning to a substantial project, preparing them for further study or careers in engineering. Digital Signal Processing teaches the analysis and modification of digital signals, while Advanced Electronic Systems explores the design of sophisticated analogue circuits. These modules provide the expertise and practical skills needed for a successful engineering career.
