COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, students gain foundational knowledge in energy systems, electrical engineering, and mathematics. Modules such as Energy and Electrical Engineering Fundamentals introduce key concepts in energy production, conversion, and sustainability, while Engineering Sciences provides core physics principles for solving engineering problems. Students also learn about circuit analysis and design in Introduction to Electrical and Analogue Electronic Circuits and explore programming for engineering applications in Introduction to Programming. Mathematical Principles covers essential mathematical techniques for tackling complex engineering problems, and Principles of Digital Systems focuses on digital circuits, microcontrollers, and system design.In Year 2, technical expertise is further developed with Engineering Mathematics, which covers advanced mathematical techniques, and the Group Design Project, where students collaborate on engineering solutions. Magnetic Circuits and Transformers introduces transformer theory, while Control and Instrumentation delves into measurement and control systems. Electrical Machines provides hands-on learning of AC and DC machines, and Innovation and Enterprise teaches students how to develop business plans for engineering start-ups.In Year 3, students embark on an Individual Project, applying their skills to a research topic of personal interest. Power Distribution and Transmission explores power system modeling and the integration of renewables and electric vehicles. Electrical Power Systems and Industry Practices covers power system components and includes industry-led seminars, while Power Electronics teaches the principles of semiconductor devices and power control systems. These modules equip students with the practical and technical skills needed for careers in electrical and energy engineering.
