COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year program focuses on critical issues in international relations, political thought, and global development, offering students a deep understanding of global politics and key contemporary challenges. In Year 1, students build foundational skills through modules such as Critical Thinking and Professional Identity (40 credits), which enhances academic writing, analytical thinking, and networking. The Global Development module (20 credits) explores international aid and development institutions, while Key Themes in International Relations (20 credits) introduces students to core political and social issues like sovereignty, war, and climate change. The Political Thought module (20 credits) delves into the key debates in political theory, and The Making of the Global South (20 credits) examines the historical and ongoing challenges faced by regions such as Africa, Latin America, and South Asia.In Year 2, students deepen their understanding with International Thought (20 credits), which introduces major theoretical frameworks in International Relations, including post-structuralism and post-colonialism. The Bending the Truth A Little? Researching Politics and International Relations module (20 credits) teaches students to navigate conflicting information and build critical research skills, focusing on contemporary political issues like fake news and the role of international organizations.Year 3 offers specialized study with Security Challenges in the Twenty-First Century (20 credits), which explores contemporary global security threats, examining issues like strategic thought, modern modes of conflict, and the responses of security actors. This curriculum equips students with a comprehensive understanding of global politics, preparing them for careers in international relations, development, and policy analysis.
