COURSE CURRICULUM

The program offers a comprehensive exploration of global politics, development, and international relations across three years. In Year 1, students begin with foundational modules like Critical Thinking and Professional Identity, which equips them with essential academic and professional skills. The Global Development module delves into the dynamics of international aid and development, while Key Themes in International Relations introduces students to global political, economic, and social issues. The Political Thought module explores key debates in political philosophy, and The Making of the Global South examines the history and current issues facing regions traditionally categorized as developing.In Year 2, the focus shifts to more specialized topics, including Climate Crises, where students explore the global movement for climate justice through a social justice lens, and The Geopolitics and Geo-Economics of Africa, which examines Africa’s strategic position in global power dynamics and its ongoing challenges.Year 3 emphasizes critical thinking on aid and development. The Rethinking Aid and Development module encourages students to critically evaluate the history, evolution, and ideologies surrounding foreign aid, questioning whether the system perpetuates poverty and dependency. This module also explores alternative development approaches and frameworks for addressing global inequalities. Throughout the program, students gain a deep understanding of global political issues, development theory, and the complexities of international relations, preparing them for roles in global policy, humanitarian work, and international development.
