COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year program offers an in-depth exploration of international relations, global development, and political thought. In Year 1, students build essential academic and professional skills through the Critical Thinking and Professional Identity module (40 credits), focusing on writing, research, public speaking, and networking. The Global Development module (20 credits) introduces international aid organizations and their role in addressing global inequality, while Key Themes in International Relations (20 credits) explores political, economic, and social issues shaping the modern world. Students also engage with Political Thought (20 credits), analyzing key political debates on rights, justice, and authority, and The Making of the Global South (20 credits), which examines the historical and contemporary challenges faced by regions such as Africa, Latin America, and South Asia.In Year 2, the program delves deeper into specialized topics such as Climate Crises (20 credits), which focuses on global climate activism, environmental justice, and the unequal impacts of climate change. The Geopolitics and Geo-Economics of Africa module (20 credits) explores Africa's role in global power structures, examining issues such as resource control, human security, and economic development.Year 3 offers a critical examination of development aid through the Rethinking Aid and Development module (20 credits). Students assess the historical roots and ongoing impact of foreign aid on global poverty and explore alternative approaches to economic development, focusing on trade, social enterprise, and critical race theory. This comprehensive curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills to analyze complex global issues and engage in international development and policy-making.
