COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Architecture and Design program is a three-year journey that blends creative expression with technical expertise. In Year 1, students focus on developing core skills in architectural drawing and modeling through modules like Design Communication and Portfolio, which helps them prepare designs for portfolio presentations. They also explore architectural histories and theories in Histories, Theories, and Matters of Concern, critically analyzing how design addresses real-world issues. The Technology and Environment: Exploration module introduces sustainable design practices and key structural concepts, laying the groundwork for understanding how design, context, and construction intersect.Year 2 deepens students' understanding with modules like Body and Interior Space, where they explore the relationship between humans and their built environments. In Design: Adaptive Re-Use, students learn to sustainably refresh old buildings, while Communication: Creative Practice refines their visual communication skills. The Design: Interior Investigation module challenges students to work on real sites, creating design solutions that balance creativity with practicality. In Technology and Materials, students experiment with materials and technologies, focusing on sustainable, people-centered design.Year 3 culminates with modules that prepare students for professional practice. The Communication: Professional Identity module teaches the skills needed to navigate the design industry, while the Interior: Major Project gives students the opportunity to showcase their skills in a comprehensive design project. The History and Theory: Dissertation allows for independent research into a chosen architectural topic, and the Material Expression module provides hands-on experience with materials, further refining their design capabilities. By the end of the program, students are equipped with the skills to excel in the interior architecture and design field.
