The Game Design and Development program offers a comprehensive and practical approach to the world of game creation, blending creativity with technical skills. In the first year, students focus on developing essential skills in 3D modeling, coding, and game design. Modules like 3D Modelling and Art Skills for Games teach students how to create virtual environments and assets while refining their traditional and digital art techniques. Coding and Scripting for Games introduces the basics of programming and game logic, providing the foundation for creating functional game mechanics. The Game Development and Design Studio modules allow students to work collaboratively on real-world projects, gaining experience in developing interactive games. In the second year, students dive deeper into game prototyping, refining their designs through iterative processes and user feedback in the Prototyping and Iterating Game Designs module. The Student Enterprise for Games module provides a practical understanding of the business side of game development, while Creative Research and Project Initiation encourages independent study and the development of personal creative projects. In the final year, students undertake a significant Final Year Project, showcasing their ability to manage a complete game development cycle. Additionally, the Real-Time Interactive Group Projects provide valuable industry experience by requiring students to collaborate on large-scale digital experiences.
