COURSE CURRICULUM

The BNurs (Hons) Adult Nursing course provides a progressive learning structure across three years, preparing students to become confident, compassionate and competent registered practitioners. In Year 1, students develop core foundations through modules such as Foundations of Healthcare Practice, Inclusive and Collaborative Practice, The Human Life Journey and The Reflective Practitioner, alongside essential mandatory nursing training, helping them understand human development, person-centred care and professional responsibilities. Year 2 builds on these foundations by advancing clinical knowledge and skills through modules including Advancing Skills in Contemporary Adult Nursing Practice, Challenges to Health and Wellbeing, Contemporary Evidence-Based Practice, Enhancing Safety and Quality of Care, Skills for Safe and Effective Practice and Working in Partnership to Prioritise Care. Students also engage in independent inquiry and higher-level mandatory training, strengthening decision-making and patient-centred care delivery. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced practice, leadership and professional readiness, with continued development in clinical skills, safety and quality improvement, alongside further independent inquiry and the Preparing for Transition as a Registered Practitioner module, which supports readiness for professional registration. Overall, the course blends theory, reflective learning and practical experience to ensure graduates are well prepared to provide safe, effective and compassionate adult nursing care in diverse healthcare settings.
