COURSE CURRICULUM

The MPH in Public Health equips students with the knowledge and skills to address contemporary health challenges on both local and global scales. The program covers the aetiology of disease, helping students understand the causes and risk factors that influence population health, while global perspectives in public health provide insights into the varied health issues affecting different regions of the world. Core training in epidemiology and research methods develops the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret health data, ensuring evidence-based approaches underpin decision-making and intervention strategies. Students also gain expertise in strategic leadership and management in health, preparing them to guide teams, organisations, and policy initiatives effectively. Modules in health promotion and education focus on designing and implementing strategies to encourage healthy behaviours, while health protection addresses the prevention and control of infectious and environmental threats. The dissertation provides an opportunity for independent research, allowing students to explore a public health issue in depth, applying theory to practice. By combining theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical applications, the program prepares graduates for careers in government, non-governmental organisations, international agencies, and healthcare institutions, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to improving population health, developing policy, and leading effective public health interventions.
