COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Dietetics program provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop the knowledge and skills required for professional dietetic practice. In the first year, students build a foundation in food science, human nutrition, nutritional biochemistry and physiology, and the psycho-social aspects of health, alongside developing essential communication skills and preparing for professional practice. This combination of scientific knowledge and practical skills ensures students are equipped to understand the biological, psychological, and social factors influencing nutrition and health. In the second year, the focus shifts to clinical dietetics, behavioural science, professionalism, and research methods, alongside practical experience through practice education, which allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. Pharmacology is also introduced to provide an understanding of the interactions between nutrition and medication. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through integrated nutrition care planning for adults and children, public health, epidemiology, and advanced research methods, while completing an extended period of practice education to ensure professional competence. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and ethical, client-centred care. Graduates emerge prepared to work as registered dietitians, capable of delivering high-quality nutritional care, promoting public health, and influencing nutrition policy across a range of settings.
