COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Investigative Psychology program provides a comprehensive and applied understanding of psychological principles within the context of criminal investigations and the wider justice system. In the first year, students explore foundational topics including perspectives in psychology, professional development, psychopathology, and contemporary debates in mental health, building a strong theoretical and practical base. In the second year, the focus expands to developmental, social, and cognitive psychology, alongside quantitative and qualitative research methods and applied skills for professional practice, enabling students to analyse human behaviour critically and understand individual differences in investigative contexts. In the final year, students undertake a capstone research project while studying the investigative process and offender rehabilitation, integrating knowledge gained throughout the course. A wide range of optional modules allows students to specialise in areas such as developmental and educational psychology, clinical and health psychology, social and occupational psychology, cognitive neuroscience, psychology of creativity, consumer behaviour, and music psychology, as well as placement opportunities to gain practical experience in real-world environments. Emphasising employability, research-led learning, and applied practice, the program equips students with critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary to pursue careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, law enforcement, research, and related applied psychology fields, while fostering professional competence and ethical awareness.
