COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Sports Journalism program provides a comprehensive and practical approach to preparing students for careers in sports media. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules in radio production and podcasting, video sports production and presentation, introduction to journalism, and media law, gaining an understanding of both the technical and legal aspects of reporting. The second year builds on these skills, focusing on essential and advanced sports reporting, multimedia sports reporting, and the operation of a professional sports newsroom, allowing students to gain practical experience in creating content across multiple platforms. In the final year, students advance their expertise through multi-platform sports journalism, exploring how to produce engaging content for digital, broadcast, and print media, and deepening their understanding of media law and regulation. The major project in sports journalism provides an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of practical skills, research, and professional standards, culminating in a portfolio-ready body of work. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on industry relevance, ethical practice, and employability, enabling students to develop professional networks and practical experience. Graduates are equipped to pursue careers as sports reporters, broadcasters, editors, or content creators, ready to work across live coverage, digital platforms, and global sporting events.
