COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Acting course is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive progression of practical and theoretical training in performance. In the first year, students focus on foundational skills, including movement for actors, voice and text work, and ensemble performance through classical and early modern drama, alongside modern drama projects in new contexts. This initial year develops physical and vocal control, textual analysis, and collaborative performance experience. In the second year, students build on these foundations with more specialised work, including stage and screen scene studies, acting for camera, advanced voice training, and applied or theatre-in-education projects. Contemporary devised performance projects further encourage creative experimentation, collaboration, and innovation. The third year emphasises independent and professional practice, with students undertaking extended independent study, professional practice and company projects, contemporary British drama projects, and directed performance projects. This final year allows students to consolidate their artistic identity, apply skills in professional and self-directed contexts, and engage with industry-standard practices. Across all three years, the curriculum is designed to integrate practical performance, academic research, and creative development, equipping students with the technical expertise, adaptability, and professional mindset necessary for careers in acting, performance, and wider creative industries. Students graduate with both refined artistic skills and transferable professional competencies.
