COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Health and Bioinformatics course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in health informatics and bioinformatics roles within healthcare, research, and related sectors. Students complete all compulsory modules, including Information Systems in Healthcare, HCI for Information Systems, Data Management in Healthcare, Research Methods, and the Project Dissertation, which collectively build a strong foundation in healthcare data management, system design, human-computer interaction, and research skills. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, with one option required to be either Knowledge Management or Leadership in Public Health, ensuring that students develop expertise in areas critical to effective healthcare leadership and decision-making. Other optional modules, such as Consultancy and Technological Innovation, Principles of Project Management, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Public Health and Health Systems, and Digital Transformation and Innovation, provide opportunities to gain advanced insights into contemporary healthcare challenges and technological developments. For additional support, students may access optional modules in Learning and Professional Development, Employability Skills and Employment, or Programming Support, with the Learning and Professional Development module being compulsory for international students. Through this combination of core, optional, and support modules, the course equips graduates with analytical, technical, and leadership skills, preparing them for impactful careers in health informatics, bioinformatics, data analysis, and healthcare innovation across public and private sectors globally.
