The Dementia Studies: Contemporary Approaches to Practice program is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills essential for leadership and innovation in dementia care. The compulsory modules provide a comprehensive foundation across multiple dimensions of dementia studies. Dementia Policy and Influences in Practice examines the frameworks and policies that shape care delivery, helping students understand the regulatory and organisational contexts affecting services. Global Perspectives in Dementia explores international approaches to care, enabling students to compare practices, identify best approaches, and adapt them to local contexts. Dementia: Culture and Society investigates the social and cultural factors that influence experiences of dementia, promoting a holistic understanding of the condition. Evidence-based Approaches to Dementia in Health and Social Care focuses on applying research and empirical evidence to inform effective practice, ensuring interventions are grounded in proven methodologies. Research Methods in Dementia develops the skills necessary for designing and conducting rigorous research, while Leadership and Innovation in Dementia Care equips students with the ability to drive service improvements, implement change, and influence organisational practices. The Project Dissertation allows students to apply their learning to an independent, substantial research project, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. Collectively, these modules prepare graduates to lead, innovate, and deliver high-quality dementia care in a variety of professional and organisational settings, addressing both local and global challenges.
