COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Biomedical Engineering is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of biomedical technologies and healthcare applications. The compulsory modules ensure that all students acquire essential knowledge and skills. Biosignals and Biosignal Processing covers the analysis and interpretation of physiological signals, equipping students with the ability to extract meaningful information from complex biomedical data. Machine Learning focuses on applying computational techniques to healthcare problems, enabling predictive modelling and data-driven decision-making. Healthcare Technologies introduces students to innovative medical devices and systems, highlighting their role in diagnostics, treatment, and patient care. Research Methods provides the tools to conduct rigorous, evidence-based investigations, while the Project Dissertation allows students to apply their learning to an independent, in-depth research project, integrating technical knowledge with practical problem-solving. In addition to the core modules, students can choose two optional modules from a selection that includes Mathematics of Signal Processing, Introduction to Genetics and Genomics, Data Management in Healthcare, Big Data Analytics, and Statistics and Biomedical Data Science. These optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals, combining advanced computational, analytical, and biomedical expertise. The program prepares graduates to contribute to innovation in healthcare technologies, biomedical research, and patient-focused solutions.
