COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic Music Composition course at the London College of Music is designed to equip students with advanced skills in music creation, production, and technology, focusing on contemporary and popular electronic music practices. Students study a set of core modules that provide a comprehensive foundation in composition, production, and research. Electronic Music Composition 1 and 2 develop creative and technical expertise, enabling students to craft innovative works while mastering studio techniques, digital audio tools, and compositional methods. Game Audio explores sound design and music for interactive media, preparing students to create immersive audio experiences for gaming and other digital applications. Research Methods equips students with the skills to conduct rigorous, evidence-based inquiry, supporting the development of analytical thinking and creative problem-solving. The Project Dissertation allows students to undertake an independent, in-depth project, synthesising their practical and theoretical knowledge to produce original work. In addition to the compulsory modules, students select two optional modules tailored to their interests and career aspirations. One option is chosen between Advanced Hybrid Production and Interface Design for Music, offering specialised technical and creative training, while the second option is selected from Combining Sounds, Immersive Audio, and Interactive Music Technology, allowing students to explore experimental, immersive, or interactive approaches to music creation. This combination of core and optional modules ensures graduates develop both broad and specialised expertise, preparing them for professional careers in electronic music composition, audio production, game audio, interactive media, and related creative industries.
