COURSE CURRICULUM

The MMus Composition for Film and TV program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in both creative composition and technical music production for media. The compulsory modules ensure that students develop strong practical, professional, and research-based skills essential for a career in film, television, and digital media music. Practical Composition 1 and 2 focus on cultivating original compositional ideas, encouraging students to experiment with different styles, techniques, and expressive approaches while refining their personal artistic voice. Audio and MIDI Production provides the technical skills needed to create, edit, and produce high-quality digital music, enabling students to integrate their compositions into multimedia contexts. Music Score Production teaches the preparation of professional-quality scores for performance, recording, and publication. Professional Orchestration and Arrangement equips students with the ability to adapt and arrange music for a variety of ensembles and media formats, enhancing both creative and practical capabilities. Research Methods develops critical thinking, analytical skills, and an understanding of contemporary music scholarship, supporting informed creative decisions. The Masters Project serves as a capstone, allowing students to integrate their technical, compositional, and research skills into a substantial, independent project that reflects their personal artistic vision. Collectively, these modules prepare graduates for professional careers as composers, producers, and music specialists within the media industry.
