COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music and Performing Arts Education degree is structured around a set of compulsory modules that develop the practical, theoretical, and professional skills needed to excel as an arts educator. Pedagogic Theories and Practices introduces students to a range of teaching methods and educational frameworks, enabling them to adapt their approach to different learners and settings. Devising Material encourages creativity in designing original teaching and performance resources, while 1:1 and Small Group Teaching provides focused training in delivering personalized and effective instruction. Creative Workshopping for Education and Community Settings explores innovative approaches to engaging diverse groups, equipping students to deliver impactful learning experiences in both formal and informal environments. The Business of Education module addresses the entrepreneurial and professional skills required to navigate the contemporary arts education sector, helping students understand management, funding, and sustainability. Research Methods builds essential academic skills in inquiry, critical analysis, and evidence-based practice, preparing students for their final Masters Project. The program culminates in the Masters Project, where students undertake independent research or a practice-based project in an area of personal interest, consolidating their learning and professional development.
