COURSE CURRICULUM

The Masters in Music Technology program offers a combination of compulsory and optional modules designed to develop advanced expertise in music production, audio technology, and interactive media. Students engage with core modules such as Interface Design for Music, Immersive Audio, Interactive Music Technology, Advanced Hybrid Production, Research Methods, and a Masters Project. Interface Design for Music focuses on creating and refining digital audio interfaces, enabling students to design intuitive and functional tools for music creation and performance. Immersive Audio explores spatial sound, surround and 3D audio techniques, allowing students to produce rich and engaging auditory experiences. Interactive Music Technology examines the integration of software, hardware, and performance, emphasizing the creation of responsive and interactive musical systems. Advanced Hybrid Production teaches students to combine multiple production techniques across digital and analog platforms, developing versatile technical and creative skills. Research Methods prepares students for independent inquiry, critical analysis, and evidence-based practice, which they apply to their Masters Project, a substantial independent research or creative work that demonstrates mastery of their field. Students may also select one optional module, choosing between Approaches to Recording, which focuses on contemporary recording techniques, or Game Audio, which explores sound design and implementation for interactive gaming environments. This structure equips graduates with technical proficiency, creative innovation, and research skills, ready for careers in music technology, production, immersive media, and interactive audio industries.
