COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM Legal Practice (CILEX) program is structured across three semesters, combining compulsory and optional modules to provide a comprehensive foundation in legal knowledge and professional skills. In Semester 1, students study three compulsory modules—Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Litigation, and Introduction to Property, Private Client and Skills—alongside one optional module, allowing for initial specialisation and practical skill development. Semester 2 focuses on further professional training, with students selecting two additional optional modules from a diverse list that includes areas such as Property and Conveyancing, Wills, Probate and Private Client Law, Family Law and Practice, Business and Commercial Law, Employment Law, and Immigration Law, among others. These modules are designed to deepen students’ understanding of both substantive and procedural law, while providing applied experience relevant to professional practice. Semester 3 culminates in the Professional Skills Project, where students integrate their learning from previous modules and apply it to practical, real-world legal scenarios, demonstrating their readiness for professional work. The combination of compulsory and optional modules ensures that graduates gain both broad legal knowledge and specialised expertise, equipping them with the practical, analytical, and professional skills necessary to succeed as legal practitioners and pursue authorisation as a CILEX Lawyer across various legal sectors, including private practice, corporate law, and public services.
