COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year BSc (Hons) Social Sciences program provides students with a broad and interdisciplinary understanding of human behavior, social structures, and contemporary societal challenges. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as modern political thought, criminal process and responsibility, understanding education, development in a social world, decolonising the mind and social justice, and media, culture and society. These modules introduce key concepts in social science, promoting critical thinking and awareness of social justice, inequality, and cultural dynamics. The second year expands on research and practical skills, with compulsory modules like new methods in social research and London Enterprise Lab, alongside optional modules including personality and individual differences, sociological inquiry, justice through equity, diversity and inclusion, comparative education for the globalized world, international institutions and policies, mental health, wellbeing and resilience in psychology, intersectionality and identity formation, explaining criminal behaviour, digital literacies, and regional politics. This stage emphasizes applied learning, enterprise, and interdisciplinary analysis. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge with a dissertation and the compulsory venture making and social enterprise module, while optional modules allow specialization in areas such as health psychology, race and ethnicity, teaching and learning policy, criminal law and youth justice, conflict resolution, international human rights, migration and social change, multicultural learning, and crime scene investigation. Graduates are equipped with the analytical, research, and practical skills needed for careers in social research, public policy, education, social services, and related fields.
