COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year BSc (Hons) Public Health program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to promote health and wellbeing at individual, community, and population levels. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as lifelong learning for public health, finding, understanding and using evidence for public health, determinants of health and wellbeing, health and wellbeing across the lifecourse, measuring individual health and wellbeing, and politics and advocacy in public health. These modules provide essential insights into the factors influencing health and introduce evidence-based approaches to health promotion. In the second year, students expand their applied and analytical skills with modules including health promotion in action, assessing population health and wellbeing, health protection, systems and emergencies, mass media health communication, public mental health and wellbeing, and introduction to research methodologies and methods in public health. This stage emphasizes practical applications, research skills, and communication strategies for effective public health practice. In the final year, students focus on leadership, policy, and intervention development through compulsory modules such as promoting and developing healthy public policy, designing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating public health interventions, developing leadership for health improvement, and a professional project: public health intervention project, while optional modules such as public health in action, substance use and infectious diseases, psychopharmacology and addiction, and care of the older person allow for further specialization. Graduates gain the expertise, professional skills, and practical experience needed for careers in public health, policy, research, and health promotion.
