COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year Psychology with Sport and Performance program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the psychological principles that influence athletic performance, health behaviors, and overall wellbeing. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as introduction to sport and exercise psychology, mind, brain, and behavior, data handling and analysis in psychology, development in a social world, qualitative inquiry in psychology, and real world psychology: healthy body healthy mind. These modules combine theoretical understanding with practical research skills and an introduction to applied contexts. In the second year, students deepen their expertise through modules including personality and individual differences, cognitive neuroscience, psychology in practice, psychosocial development across the lifespan, applied sport psychology, and becoming an independent researcher. This stage emphasizes applied learning, critical thinking, and independent research skills, preparing students for professional or research-based roles. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a dissertation and compulsory modules such as health psychology and sport, exercise and performance psychology, while optional modules such as clinical and counselling skills, neuropsychology, psychopharmacology and addictive behaviors, occupational psychology, therapeutic approaches to behavior change, and mental health diagnosis and intervention allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests. The program equips graduates with theoretical knowledge, practical research experience, and professional skills needed for careers in sport psychology, exercise science, coaching, health promotion, and related fields.
