COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year Psychology with Criminal Investigation program provides students with a detailed understanding of human behavior, the causes of criminal activity, and the psychological and societal responses to crime. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as criminological theory, mind, brain, and behavior, data handling and analysis in psychology, development in a social world, real world psychology: criminal minds, and qualitative inquiry in psychology, combining theoretical knowledge with practical research skills. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced study and applied learning, including personality and individual differences, cognitive neuroscience, psychology in practice, psychosocial development across the lifespan, explaining criminal behavior, and becoming an independent researcher. This stage develops analytical, research, and critical thinking skills while deepening understanding of psychological and criminological principles. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through a dissertation and specialized modules such as forensic psychology, alongside optional modules including understanding and preventing corruption, criminal law and youth justice, psychopharmacology and addictive behaviors, psychology of abusive and violent relationships, law and courtroom skills, and mental health, wellbeing, and resilience in criminal justice. The program equips graduates with the knowledge, research expertise, and practical skills required for careers in psychology, criminal justice, forensic services, or related professional roles, as well as providing pathways to postgraduate study or further specialist training.
