COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year psychology with clinical and counselling skills program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of human behavior, thought, and emotion, while developing practical skills in clinical and counselling contexts. In the first year, students build a foundation in core psychological principles through modules such as clinical and counselling psychology, mind, brain, and behavior, data handling and analysis in psychology, development in a social world, real world psychology: addictive behaviours, and qualitative inquiry in psychology. These modules introduce students to research methods, human development, and the impact of addictive behaviors, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The second year deepens this understanding and focuses on applied skills, with modules including personality and individual differences, cognitive neuroscience, psychology in practice, psychosocial development across the lifespan, talk therapies, and becoming an independent researcher. This stage develops critical thinking, analytical ability, and practical experience in therapeutic approaches. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced study and applied practice with modules such as dissertation, clinical and counselling skills, psychology of abusive and violent relationships, therapeutic approaches to behaviour change, and mental health diagnosis and intervention. Graduates gain both academic knowledge and practical competence, equipping them for careers in counselling, clinical psychology, mental health support, and related professional fields.
