COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year BSc (Hons) Professional Policing program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of modern policing and the skills required to succeed in law enforcement and related fields. In the first year, students build a foundational knowledge of policing through modules such as introduction to the role of the police, crime investigations, introduction to evidence-based practice, offender management, vulnerability and crime, and introduction to policing practice. These modules combine theoretical study with practical insight into crime prevention, investigation, and community engagement. The second year focuses on developing professional skills and applying knowledge in real-world contexts, with modules including developing professional practice, research skills, crime and public protection, intelligence management and investigations, and policing in action through placement experiences. This stage emphasizes practical experience, critical thinking, and analytical skills, preparing students to operate effectively in complex policing environments. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced study and independent research, completing modules such as a project dissertation, leadership and mentoring, enhancing police practice, advanced investigation skills, and advanced problem-solving and professional practice. The program equips graduates with comprehensive knowledge, practical expertise, and professional confidence, preparing them for careers as police officers or in related sectors such as criminal justice, public safety, and law enforcement support.
