COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) International Tourism Management degree offers a comprehensive and practical approach to understanding the global tourism industry, combining academic study with real-world experience. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in travel and tourism, including professional skills, finance and planning, worldwide tourist destinations, service operations, and the social and cultural aspects of tourism. This prepares them for more advanced study and practical application in later years. The second year focuses on applied skills such as managing sustainable tourism, travel technology and innovation, digital marketing, and leadership development. Students also have the opportunity to undertake overseas fieldwork or explore global contemporary issues in tourism, enhancing their international perspective. For those on the placement pathway, the third year is spent gaining hands-on experience in a business directly related to the international tourism sector, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in a professional setting and develop industry-specific skills. In the final year, students complete advanced modules in strategic management and analytics, revenue and distribution management, and a dissertation project, with options to study tourism risk, niche tourism, tourism and events, or digital futures. Graduates leave with the expertise and practical experience needed to pursue careers in tourism management, travel companies, event planning, consultancy, and other global tourism-related roles.
