COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Information Technology and Information Systems degree is designed to develop students’ technical, analytical, and professional skills for careers in IT and business technology. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in computer systems, programming, information systems, databases, and essential skills for IT professionals, alongside understanding business management and developing a professional digital identity. This combination ensures graduates can integrate technical knowledge with practical business awareness. The second year expands on these skills by introducing mobile web application development, enterprise and business development, IT infrastructure, networks and security, and the employment landscape of the IT industry, culminating in a group research project that provides hands-on experience in solving real-world problems collaboratively. The final year focuses on advanced topics such as managing information systems projects, business intelligence technologies, enterprise security management, and databases and analytics, alongside an independent project that allows students to apply their knowledge in a practical, career-oriented context. Throughout the degree, students develop a blend of technical proficiency, critical thinking, and project management capabilities, preparing them to contribute effectively to organisations in IT roles or pursue further specialisation through postgraduate study. Graduates leave with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a technology-driven and rapidly evolving business environment.
