COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Games Design and Animation degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the artistic, technical, and professional aspects of game creation. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Visual Studies, Game Narratives and History of Play, Realtime Assets and 3D Creation, CGI Foundations, Design and Concept, and the Keystone Project, which introduces them to the practical and conceptual elements of game design. The second year builds on these skills, focusing on more advanced areas including Digital Sculpture, Character Animation, Game Flow, Design for Interaction, Experimental Games, and Worldbuilding, allowing students to refine their creativity and technical expertise while learning to design engaging and immersive experiences. In the final year, students gain insight into the professional side of the industry through modules such as The Games Business, Sound and Action, Planning for Media, Games Theatre, and a major Project. This structure ensures that students not only acquire strong practical skills in animation, 3D modeling, and interactive design but also understand the broader context of game production and the commercial aspects of the industry. By the end of the degree, graduates are well-equipped to enter the games industry with a versatile skill set, ready to take on roles in design, animation, interactive storytelling, and related fields.
