COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Clinical Science degree provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop expertise in medical and clinical sciences, preparing them for careers as clinical scientists or for further professional training. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core scientific principles, covering cell and microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, human anatomy, and physiology. This foundational knowledge equips students with the essential skills required to understand human biology and disease processes. In the second year, the course expands into applied clinical subjects, including medical physics, clinical biochemistry, infection and immunity, haematology and transfusion science, diagnosing disease, and research development and leadership, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical healthcare challenges. The final year focuses on advanced clinical topics and professional development, including clinical genetics and cytogenomics, clinical immunology and cellular pathology, clinical microbiology and infection control, professional issues in clinical science, and a final-year research project. Through laboratory work, research projects, and practical learning, students gain hands-on experience in modern clinical techniques and diagnostic processes. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with a thorough understanding of clinical science, strong analytical and practical skills, and the ability to contribute to healthcare practice, biomedical research, and patient care with competence and professionalism.
