COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology and Design degree offers a structured pathway that equips students with technical expertise, practical skills, and professional knowledge necessary for a career in building design and construction. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation through modules in Professional Practice, Construction Technology 1, Building Regulatory Control, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM), Design Procedures and Procurement, and Building Structure and Materials. These modules provide essential skills in understanding construction processes, building regulations, materials, and design technologies. The second year builds on this foundation with Construction Technology 2, Environmental Science and Building Services, Building Surveying, Conservation and Adaptation, Construction Law, Architectural Technology 1, and an Integrated Design and Construction Project, which combines technical knowledge with applied design experience in real-world scenarios. In the final year, students focus on advanced and specialised skills through modules such as Advanced Architectural Presentation, Architectural Technology 2, Sustainable Technologies for Building, the Final Year ADT Project, and Contract Administration. These modules encourage independent problem-solving, sustainable design thinking, and professional project management. The course integrates theoretical learning with hands-on application, preparing graduates to work as competent architectural technologists and designers who can manage projects, advise stakeholders, and respond effectively to contemporary challenges in the built environment.
