COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Acoustics degree provides a structured pathway across three years, combining technical, theoretical and practical learning to prepare students for careers in acoustics and related industries. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying modules such as Building Structure and Materials, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM), Design Procedures and Procurement, Engineering Software, Theory of Sound and Quantitative Tools for Audio. These modules establish essential knowledge of construction, design and the fundamentals of sound and acoustics. The second year progresses into more advanced and applied areas, including Acoustics, Artificial Intelligence, Construction Law, Electroacoustics, Environmental Science and Building Services, and Mathematics for Audio and Signal Processing. This combination develops a broader understanding of both technical acoustics and the role of technology, law and sustainability in the industry. In the final year, students focus on specialist and professional-level skills with modules such as Advanced Acoustics, Audio Digital Signal Processing, Construction Economics and Finance, Sound System Design and a major Sound Engineering Project. The course equips students with practical experience, problem-solving skills and technical expertise, ensuring they graduate ready to apply their knowledge in industries such as construction, environmental consultancy, audio technology and architectural acoustics.
