COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year BMus (Hons) Performance and Music Management program is designed to develop students into versatile performers who also possess the managerial skills required to succeed in the modern music industry. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as performance for recording, audio principles, studio recording, the management role, situated performance, and contracts and law, combining technical performance skills with a practical understanding of industry operations and legal frameworks. The second year builds on this foundation, emphasizing career development, leadership, and creative growth through modules including career strategies, leading in performance, performance artistry, brand development, research methods for music management, and understanding music publishing. These modules ensure students develop both artistic expertise and professional business acumen, preparing them to manage their careers effectively. In the final year, students integrate their learning in applied and project-based modules such as the performance and management project, performance for audience, digital marketing, performance for industry, and portfolio development. These experiences allow students to demonstrate their skills in real-world contexts, create professional portfolios, and apply strategic knowledge to promote their work. Overall, the program equips graduates with the technical, creative, and managerial competencies required to thrive as performing artists and industry-savvy professionals in a competitive music landscape.
