COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year BMus degree in Performance is designed to develop highly skilled and versatile musicians while preparing them for professional careers in the music industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules that focus on performance practice, practical musicianship, and applied musicianship in community contexts. They also study the creative industries, music history, culture, and stage performance, combining technical skill with a broader understanding of music’s role in society. The second year emphasizes advanced performance and creative development, including exploring performance, practical arranging, and transitioning from stage to studio. Students also gain essential industry knowledge through business skills for the music industry, music scholarship, and music pedagogy, ensuring they are well-prepared for the practical and theoretical demands of a music career. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through professional and creative projects. Modules such as the professional portfolio, research project, promoting your career, performance project, and creative leadership provide opportunities for practical application, industry engagement, and individual expression. Graduates leave the program with refined technical abilities, a deep understanding of music in its cultural and historical context, and the professional experience and strategic skills needed to succeed in diverse music careers, from performance and teaching to leadership roles in creative projects.
