COURSE CURRICULUM

This three-year Politics and International Relations program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of political systems, international relations, and global challenges. In the first year, students build a foundational knowledge through modules such as modern political thought, theories of international relations, understanding global political problems, political systems, US politics in an international context, and media, culture, and society. These modules develop critical thinking and analytical skills while introducing students to key political concepts and global issues. In the second year, students deepen their understanding of both domestic and international politics with modules including British and European politics, identity politics, international institutions and policies, working in political and international contexts, the politics of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and research methods. This stage emphasizes practical skills and prepares students to apply political analysis in real-world contexts. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics and independent research, undertaking a dissertation alongside modules such as contemporary political theory, conflict resolution, crisis management and diplomacy, political sociology, and international human rights. Throughout the program, students develop transferable skills in research, problem-solving, and independent thinking, equipping them for careers in government, policy, international organisations, advocacy, research, and other professional fields requiring analytical and strategic expertise.
